Christine O’Donnell (born August 27, 1969) is an American politician who is the Republican Party nominee in Delaware’s 2010 United States Senate special election, which will be held on November 2, 2010.
O’Donnell has worked as marketing consultant, as a freelance public relations consultant,[4] as an advocate for sexual abstinence, and as a political commentator. She ran for the Republican nomination for Senate in 2006, finishing third in the Republican primary and then gaining four percent of the vote as a write-in candidate in the general election.
She was the party’s nominee for the 2008 U.S. Senate election, losing by a wide margin to Joe Biden. In a surprising upset, she defeated nine-term U.S. Representative and former Governor of Delaware Mike Castle by more than 3,500 votes in the 2010 primary. The contest gained national attention.
