This actually makes me hurt for Eric Holder and the Obama administration……. I have not seen such a good example of trying to dodge saying something since someone trying to avoid admitting cheating on their partner……

REP. LAMAR SMITH (R), TEXAS: Do you feel that these individuals might have been incited to take the actions that they did because of radical Islam?

ERIC HOLDER, ATTORNEY GENERAL OF THE UNITED STATES: Because of?

SMITH: Radical Islam.

HOLDER: I mean, we’re in the process now of talking to Mr. Shahzad to try to understand what it is that drove him to take the action.

SMITH: But radical Islam could have been one of the reasons?

HOLDER: A variety of reasons.

SMITH: Was radical Islam one of them?

HOLDER: There are a variety of reasons why people do these things. Some of them are potentially religious.

SMITH: All I’m asking is if you think, among those variety of reasons, radical Islam might have been one of the reasons that the individuals took the steps that they did.

HOLDER: You say radical Islam. I think those people who espouse a version of Islam that is not…

SMITH: Are you uncomfortable attributing any of their actions to radical Islam?

HOLDER: I don’t want to say anything negative about a religion.

SMITH: No, no, we’re not talking about…

HOLDER: A man like Awlaki.

SMITH: I’m talking about radical Islam. I’m not talking about the general religion.

   Seems like the folks on the fringe – the whack jobs (lots of sectarian, cult, etc. splinter groups) fall in to this category. Not to argue both sides here, but killing in the name of God isn’t a new concept either. :-\
