Tea Party Member & Marine Stuns Crowd!

I really hate to admit when I am so dumb……. I didn’t know there were additional verses to the Star Spangled Banner…. I’m bad, I’m bad, I’m bad…….

Now….. let me very affectionately pick on Lewis…..   first there is no such thing as an “ex” or “former” Marine…… thank you so much for your service……. second, the verse you sang was the fourth verse not the second *grin*…..

Lewis, your bad….. *grin*….. God Bless you sir……..

The fourth verse of the Star Spangled Banner:

O! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved home and the war’s desolation!
Blest with victory and peace, may the heav’n rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: “In God is our trust.”
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

secularstupidest June 04, 2010 Herman Cain lead a Q&A session at the Douglas County Tea Party when a young woman asked him about the attack by the Left on our Judeo-Christian heritage in America…He addressed her question, then went to the last question of the night, and the crowd was not expecting what happened next…

(Thanks to Frank Flag @rightlyaligned for bringing this to my attention…..)

ALL the lyrics for the Star Spangled Banner:

O! say can you see by the dawn’s early light,
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight’s last gleaming,
Whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight,
O’er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming?
And the rockets’ red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there;
O! say does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

On the shore, dimly seen through the mists of the deep,
Where the foe’s haughty host in dread silence reposes,
What is that which the breeze, o’er the towering steep,
As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?
Now it catches the gleam of the morning’s first beam,
In full glory reflected now shines in the stream:
‘Tis the star-spangled banner, O! long may it wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

And where is that band who so vauntingly swore
That the havoc of war and the battle’s confusion,
A home and a country should leave us no more!
Their blood has washed out their foul footsteps’ pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight, or the gloom of the grave:
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

O! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand

  1. Sorry, but I have to correct the above comment. First, there is no such thing as an “ex-Marine”, but “former Marine” is acceptable amongst those who have been honorably discharged from the United States Marine Corp. Marines and their families know that. Second, Marines don’t get picked on….affectionately or not!

  2. ONCE A MARINE, ALWAYS A MARINE! First, It’s true…there is no such thing as an “ex-Marine”, but you should know “former Marine” is acceptable amongst Marines who have been honorably discharged from the United States Marine Corp. Marines and their families know this. Secondly, Marines don’t get picked on….affectionately or not. Lastly, did you know every Marine is a Rifle Expert?

  3. We came from a Communist country. What is going on right now in America, is unfortunately the same what was going on in the communist countries in Eastern Europe. To live the history once is enough for us. We hate to live the same ordeal twice. You, the American people, should learn from Your AND OUR history. If you want to be the victims of these miserable individuals is up to you. But we still believe in what your FATHERS THOUGHT AND FIGHT FOR. What they SAID IS THE TRUTH. If you are smart enough to understand the reality, FIGHT FOR YOUR LIFE. YOURS AND OTHERS LIFE.
